Poem: When the Valley Feels Long

I look ahead to this road I’ve been on 
It stretches out endless before me 
How come it’s still so long 
And where is my faith to believe 

I think back to the miles I hiked
And to the mountains I scaled 
Yet my progress doesn’t feel right 
And it makes me feel like I’ve failed 

Why I am I not there yet? 
And where even is my destination?
I’ve been contending so long  
Waiting to arrive at my restoration    

Yet it finally dawned on me 
That my eyes have been fixed in the wrong place 
There’s been Someone by my side 
Filling me all this time with endless grace 

Because I can scale mountains and hike valleys
But it’s Your presence I need 
Jesus, You are my answer 
Walking with You is what brings victory
