A Prayer

The Word gave life to everything that was created,
    and his life brought light to everyone.

The light shines in the darkness,
    and the darkness can never extinguish it.

John 1:4-5

Jesus, thank you for your word. Thank you that you are the Word.

Thank you that you came into a dark world and brought your light and that your light brings life.

Thank you that the darkness will never snuff out the light.

That the light will always overcome the darkness as it was in the beginning, when there was darkness and you said let there be light.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

John 8:12

Thank you Jesus that I will never walk in the darkness because I follow you.

Thank you that you have the light that leads to life.

Thank you that your light is life.

I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.

John 12:46

Thank you Jesus that you shine in my dark world, that every area of darkness I encounter, you shine bright in.

Thank you that I trust in you.

Thank you that I no longer remain in the darkness.

Jesus, help me to shine your light wherever I go.
