Don’t Lose Faith!
This year has been a weary year, hasn’t it? And I don’t say it out of defeat, I say it out of the awareness of the refining season God is putting us through. But one belief I hold onto is that God has a purpose for it all and that there are bigger and better things coming for the people of God. Maybe you are like me, you are believing for breakthrough in your life and have yet to see it happen. Maybe God has whispered a dream into your heart, whispered a promise of what is to come, but when you look around, life is pretty much the same.
What Jesus Says
What do we do in these situations? What are we to choose to do? I believe that the Spirit of the Lord is saying, “Do not lose faith!” There is time for doing, there is a time for stepping out and there is also time for simply having faith and trusting the Lord is at work. Jesus says it this way:
“This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”
John 6:29
“Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”
Mark 11:22-24
God has always chosen to use people for Him to work and bring His purposes down on earth, He chose to use Abraham, Moses and the many great men and women before us to carry out great miracles. But the conduit that God needs in order to do the impossible is faith. He needs the faith of you and me to accomplish what He already wants to do.
Moses Parting the Red Sea
The Lord was showing me the other day how He was able to use Moses to part the Red Sea. When it all looked for hopeless for Moses, who was leading an entire people group to virtually a dead-end, Moses did not lose faith. No, instead of giving up, of saying, well God will just do it if He wants to and doesn’t need me, Moses chose to have faith. He said to the people who were losing faith as they saw the Egyptians chase after them, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today.” Moses didn’t know what God was going to do, but He had the faith to believe that the Lord would rescue him and his people. In a matter of fact, Moses had so much faith in God that God was able to move in a way that became one of the greatest miracles ever told in the Bible. God wouldn’t have been able to part the Red Sea without Moses’ faith to believe.
Yes, God can do whatever He wants to do. But He has always decided that he will accomplish what he wants to do through people and their faith in Him. I feel the Lord saying right now, “Don’t be afraid, just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you.” He is saying it to me, to you and to all His people who sit at the shores of obedience.
Keep Going!
So let us not grow weary in our faith and let us not disconnect from this important season and process God has us in. Do not lose faith! Don’t just wait around and say, God can do it if He wants to. No! Let us hold steadfast to our faith actively believe that God will still do what He said He would do. God will bring the breakthrough!
