Poem: Time and Depth

In the early days of following You 
It was like a freshly budding romance 
Everything felt like it had purpose in it
Everything with You was full of wonder and joy 

As time drew on and I continued to choose Your path 
There came twists and turns I did not expect
Road blocks and steep climbing
And times I almost fell off or was barely hanging on 

I begun questioning the purpose I had first felt
Questioning my choices and sincere trust of direction
I said “yes” to You 
Not to “yes” to high costs and hard times 

Yet I am starting to realize 
That life in Your kingdom is not what I had thought
And at the same time realizing 
I was too small minded

A seasoned walk with you is way better than a naïve “yes” 
Or a “yes” with no skin in the game 
It’s different than a “yes” the costs everything 
A “yes” that still resounds despite hardships

What used to be surface level
Has now developed depth 
And where I stand with You now
Can not easily be shaken
