Prayer
“This, then, is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
Let your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:9-10

I have been feeling more and more, that this is a time to pray. I don’t know if you have experienced this before, but there are times where we can sense in our spirits that God is up to something and we should be praying to usher it in. I have been feeling that God is drawing me to my knees into prayer for people and His work in this next season. This has led me to think and ask God more and more about prayer and allow Him to bring me into a deeper understanding of this powerful mighty tool.
My mom had reminded me recently of teenage Maddie’s questions on prayer. I had a hard time understanding why God would want me to pray for things if He was all powerful and could do it anyways. Why even bother if He’s going to be God and do it?
But what I would tell to teenage Maddie and to anyone else wondering that same question is something God has continued to show me throughout my life of the effects of prayer. He is so gracious and kind and when there are things we don’t understand about Him, He continues to speak to us and show us a new way of looking at it and understanding it. For me, God has been very gracious in showing me the true realities of why we pray.
Our world is completely connected to the spiritual realm. What we don’t see when we pray is the spiritual change that is created and the angelic assignments that take place. And while we pray and don’t see immediate changes, what actually happened was that your prayer shifted Heaven and earth, and brought Heaven more on earth. That is why Jesus tells us to pray “Let your kingdom come and your will be on earth as it is in Heaven.” This is telling us that God’s kingdom and God’s Will IS being done in Heaven but it is our job to pray it onto earth. Our prayers bring Heaven to earth and it is how much we pray and how persistent we are in our prayers that determines how much of Heaven we live in on earth.
I don’t know about you, but I just don’t want to pray one time that opens up a peephole to Heaven when I can pray constantly and consistently and open up a whole doorway to Heaven.
So my friend, let us fall on our knees and pray persistently and earnestly for the things of God to come onto this earth. The Lord is searching for humble hearts to use to bring His Kingdom and His will on earth. Let us not grow tried of our petitions towards Heaven, knowing that we are opening up the heavenly realms to work here on earth and that our constant prayers are turning a peephole into a doorway.
